Colpitts Poetry

Linda France was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and now lives close to Hadrian’s Wall, near Hexham, Northumberland. Her poetry collections include The Simultaneous Dress (Bloodaxe 2002) and The Toast of the Kit Cat Club (Bloodaxe 2005), a biography in verse of the eighteenth-century traveller and writer Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. Her two latest books are ......book of days, a year renga, with ceramic fragments by Sue Dunne
(Smokestack 2009) and You are Her (Arc 2010). She has also edited the acclaimed anthology Sixty Women Poets (Bloodaxe 1993). Currently Leverhulme Artist in Residence at Moorbank Botanic Garden, University of Newcastle, she has worked on a number of collaborations with visual artists and musicians and around forty public art projects.

Celebrated performance poet Lucy English also has three novels published by Fourth Estate: Selfish People (1998), set in contemporary Bristol, Children of Light (1999), and Our Dancing Days (2000), set in a Suffolk commune in the 1970s. Since winning the Bristol Poetry Slam in 1996 she has performed her poetry at numerous venues worldwide including the Edinburgh Fringe, the Austin International Poetry Festival, WordFest at Calgary, Canada and Cúirt in Galway. Her latest collection, Why I’m Here (in collaboration with photographer Sally Mundy), was published by Typical Mundy in 2009. Here are poems which ‘often take word and image beyond themselves into an
altogether different kind of aesthetic space’ (Tim Liardet).
