Come and enjoy an afternoon with Poets & Players, which has become known for its imaginative programming of complementary arts — poetry with music, dance and visual art.
Our popular free performances take place in several striking venues around Manchester, including Whitworth Art Gallery.
Tiffany Atkinson lives in Aberystwyth and lectures at Aberystwyth University. Her first collection, Kink and Particle (Seren, 2006) was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and winner of the Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection Award, and her second, Catulla et al will be published by Bloodaxe in 2011. Her work is also published widely in journals and anthologies and she gives workshops and readings across the UK and internationally.
Jeremy Over lives and works in Cockermouth, West Cumbria. His poetry was first published in the anthology New Poetries II (Carcanet, 1999) and he has had two collections published since then: A Little Bit of Bread and No Cheese (Carcanet, 2001) and Deceiving Wild Creatures (Carcanet, 2009). His work has been described as ‘Astonishing, inventive, idiosyncratic’ by Jane Routh, Stride; ‘Deeply enjoyable … hilarious’ by John Hartley Williams, Poetry London and ‘a menthol lozenge on the confectionery stall of modern poetry’ by Vic Allen, The North.’
Robbie Burton gained an MA in Creative Arts: Reading and Writing Poetry in 2003, and has been published in several magazines including Mslexia, Smith’s Knoll and The North, and had work anthologized by The Beehive Press and Cinnamon Press. She was shortlisted in the 2009 Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition, and has work selected for the Cheshire Literary Prize anthology. She runs the North East Wales Stanza which meets every month at Clwyd Theatr Cymru.
