Carole Satyamurti is a poet and sociologist who for many years taught at the University of East London and the Tavistock Clinic. In 1986 she won the National Poetry Competition and a Cholmondelay Award in 2000. Her books include Broken Moon (1987), Changing the Subject (1989), Striking Distance (1994) and Love and Variations (2000) and a new collection, Countdown, will be published by Bloodaxe this year.

Jenny Lewis trained as a painter before reading English at St Edmund Hall, Oxford and gaining an M.Phil in Poetry from the University of Glamorgan. She has been a singer-songwriter, an advertising copywriter, a children’s author, playwright and screenwriter, a teacher and a civil servant. Lewis currently lives in Oxford, where she teaches poetry at Oxford University.

John Harvey is the author of the widely praised Charlie Resnick detective novels, the first of which, Lonely Hearts, was named by The Times as one of the ’100 Best Crime Novels of the Century’. He is also a poet, dramatist and occasional broadcaster and from 1977 to 1999 ran the Slow Dancer Press.

Vikram Kapur‘s short fiction has published in several publications in India, United Kingdom, the United States and Ireland. He has published two novels and writes a monthly column for the Hindu Literary Review.
