Sean O’Brien is a poet, dramatist, fiction writer and reviewer. He is professor of creative writing at Newcastle University and a vice president of the Poetry Society. His poetry collections include The Indoor Park (1983), winner of a Somerset Maugham Award and The Drowned Book (2007), which won the TS Eliot Prize. His last three collections, Ghost Train, Downriver and The Drowned Book all won the Forward Poetry Prize. His first novel, Afterlife, was published in 2009. His new collection, November, is published in the spring.
David Harsent has published nine collections of poetry, including A Bird’s Idea of Flight (1998), and Marriage (2002), both shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize and the TS Eliot Prize. Legion (2005) won the Forward Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award. His work in music theatre has involved collaborations with, most often, Harrison Birtwistle, and include Gawain, The Woman and the Hare, and, currently in preparation, The Minotaur.
