Liz Bentley only ever wanted to become an Airhostess but didn’t reach the regulation height requirements. In working her way through a series of disparate jobs from cleaning for the blind to modelling naked and working in an abortion clinic, she finally found her true calling in life: psychotherapy. Crash! Bash! Trash! is about Liz’s experiences of becoming a psychotherapist, uncovering along the way the truth about the other CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Armed with a ukulele and Casio keyboard, Liz is one of the quirkiest voices on London’s spoken word and comedy scene. Winner of Poetry Idol and Poetry Idol the Rivals, Crash! Bash! Trash! has been developed from her show ‘£500 a line’, written and performed at the London Literature Festival at the South Bank Centre in July 2009.
Crash Bash Trash is part of a Cultural Olympiad writing commission from Shape, the disability-led arts organisation, and is supported by Arts Council England and Apples and Snakes.
