Contact: stirredwomen@gmail.com
A one off Stirred run in conjunction with Chorlton Arts Festival, open mic from 7.30 available for poetry performers to try their work in a relaxed, open atmosphere. Get your name down by emailing stirredwomen@gmail.com or getting in touch with Anna Percy or Rebecca Audra Smith.
Stirred is a women friendly event, where the focus is directed towards female performance. Tributes to women poets of the past are embraced. Men are welcome to perform their own work, Stirred's stage being a space to develop your voice, preferably with a feminist twist to it! Open micers have five minutes slots, guests fifteen.
Prizes for an on-the-spot poem will be delivered along with the guests, specially for Chorlton we have:
John Leyland: Co-director and Blank Pages Editor, a sizzling performer, describes himself as: 'a poetic magical realist'.
Rebecca Aimee Lanyon Willmott: Short fantasy story fanzine and poetry writer, recycled textile and puppet creater, Freelance creative arts workshop leader. Her piquant, poignant verse lends a unique aura to her performance.
Sian S. Ruthore: postmodern poet, newly emerged on the poetry scene but a natural on stage and page. Her past experience in performance brings an edge to her stage presence that captivates.
Also the newly developed two woman show Poetess Ramblers will be showcased for the first time at Chorlton Stirred.
All for the price of £3, including a workshop from 2-5 at the same venue, for those who'd like to get pen to paper. More details available on the workshop event.
