‘Wizard’ is a poetry play directed by Martin Stannage (Pen-Ultimate’s ‘A Night on the Tiles’) and performed by poet Rod Tame (Write Out Loud) with its writer, Dominic Berry. The show combines shamanic hip-hop, poetry-spouting kettles and shape-shifting, soul-lifting theatre.
Wizard hasn't been outside his flat for months. He can see amazing magic in places most people can't- a dragon ninja drag-queen scaling his shower, a menopausal midwife haunting his kettle. When Wizard shares this world with a friendly neighbour, three days of events will change both their lives forever.
An entertaining story that mixes new digital media (exciting music created especially for this show) with accessible, lyrical language, ‘Wizard’ will appeal to young people / hip-hop fans whilst also engaging audiences who enjoy Tolkien, Terry Pratchett or films like ‘Amelie’ or ‘Submarine’, stories about finding magic and joy.... in the darkest of places.
Entry: FREE!
Time: 7:30pm
