Brian Johnstone has published two collections, most recently The Book of Belongings (Arc, 2009), and three pamphlets. He has given readings across Scotland, at the Ledbury Poetry Festival and the Wordsworth Trust and overseas from New York to Lithuania and his work has been widely translated. He is the poet-member of Trio Verso, a group dedicated to presenting live poetry, jazz and improvised soundscapes. A founder of StAnza, Sc...otland’s international poetry festival, he is a regular chair of poetry events at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Carolyn Jess-Cooke is the author of the award-winning poetry collection Inroads, described by Ambit as ‘a first collection that does all the things a good debut … should do’. Her novel The Guardian Angel’s Journal earned her the title ‘the new Audrey Niffenegger’ from Company magazine and was described by Living North as ‘a powerful novel from a talented new voice … hotly tipped to be one of the biggest books of 2011’. The book has just been published in America and the UK and is being translated into 18 languages. Carolyn is 32, has three children, and lives in Gateshead.
