Sylvia Plath's 'Three Women'. A Poem for Three Voices
Performed by Holly Atkins, Alice Barclay and Helena Johnson. Directed By Helen Eastman
This is a rare opportunity to hear Sylvia Plath’s masterpiece, by kind permission of the Plath estate.
Sylvia Plath wrote Three Women for radio, a year before her death. It intimately traces the experience of pregnancy and childbirth and speaks with rare honesty about miscarriage and about giving a child up for adoption. It was first published in 1962, performed on BBC radio the same year, and later collected in Winter Trees, Plath's final collection. Reviewing it in 1972, Joyce Carol Oates declared it the most powerful work in the volume with an “exquisite, heart-breaking quality" that has made Plath " the spokeswoman for our most private, most helpless nightmares".
Price: £10.00
