poetry writing workshop: theme Crowning Glory!. The recent fashion for men to shave their heads – Chinese poet Po Chu-I celebrates the light headed feeling of being hairless! Raymond Carver gets a haircut. Elizabeth Bishop shampoos her lover’s hair. Matthew Sweeney imagines the hair from all the barber shops in China floating down through the air. Taking a scalp as a trophy; fixing a deer’s antlers to your wall: Delilah culling Samson’s strength by cutting his hair. The “Top-knot” is a desirable thing - the naked scalp a thing of beauty.
