OpenMind Presents: Infinite Perspectives is the final OpenMind event before the OpenMind Festival of Independent Artists and will see a scratch performance of Ushiku Crisafulli's sci-fi theatre piece 'Infinite Perspectives'.
Following from the unprecedented success of our live stream at OpenMind Presents: Yusra Warsama we'll be looking to get even more hits on our website http://www.openmindcollective.org.uk/
Starting this month the OpenSpace will be at the beginning of the event meaning that our headliner will end the event in a climax.
After the OpenSpace we've got our fantastic guests, which are also taking part in the OpenMind Festival of Independent Artists in the 2nd weekend of August from 11th-13th.
Hot Vestry are a local experimental alternative band that are getting rave reviews in Manchester and beyond, really looking forward to working with them ahead of the OpenMind Festival.
Sally Jones is an OpenMind regular taking part in her 1st ever guest slot, look forward to seeing her test out her new material ahead of the OpenMind Festival.
Gordon Zola is a poet/rapper/singer all round performer with a cheeky smile and infectious use of wordplay. He always has the audience in the palm of his hand. After wowing audiences in the May OpenSpace he's been awarded a guest slot with us.
Meshach R. Brencher is a poet the OpenMind team have known for a long while from Freed Up at Greenroom, we'll be looking forward to having him.
Halloe Away, another of our bands taking part in the OpenMind Festival, but before that they're taking part in the RIFF UK tour. Check out the RIFF UK page for more information here: http://www.facebook.com/RiffMusicUK
Our headliners for the evening are the OpenMind Collective, who'll be sharing Ushiku Crisafulli's theatre piece 'Infinite Perspectives'.
Here's a brief description of the piece:
Ushiku Crisafulli wrote a play between October 2009 and January 2010 called ‘Infinite Perspectives’ and his goal was always to perform the piece as part of his own company. He workshopped the piece at the inaugural OpenMind at Earth Cafe in August 2010, and in the past year it has been developed further.
The premise of the piece is that a man named Silver creates a reality manipulation device called the QiiQ. However “with great power, comes great responsibility” and the power of the universe in one man’s hands is definitely a contentious one with so many world views out there – but to Silver that’s all part of the chaos.
He encounters a young man named Indigo, a friendly but troubled fellow who believes in peace whilst acknowledging the darkness within his own heart.
An esoteric spiritualist Russian who lost his family in the battle of Stalingrad, Yuri connects to the power of the QiiQ via quantum meditation – and wishes to use the power of the QiiQ to halt Nazi aggression and establish a global Communist empire.
With each man’s utopia being another man’s dystopia – whose vision will be the one perspective that sets itself out against the onslaught of Infinity?
