With St. Ives September Festival’s second successful week in full swing, St. Ives Folk again contributes an outstanding acoustic set on Wednesday with London’s blues harmonica legend, Buffalo Bill Smith again popping in for a virtuoso performance while Camborne’s queen of song, Kezia, once more graces St. Ives with her sublime talent. Hostess of Penzance’s hottest open-mic – the Studio Bar at The Ritz on Tuesdays – Kattie Rosser, makes a welcome return, together with fellow Petite Debauche band member, PJ Kettless, to entertain and delight while another Penzance band, The Beauty of Diagrams, return to reprise their stylish debut here in August. As Bristol beckons, Chris Lanyon makes his last appearance for a while with his terrific set of powerful, funny and challenging songs and verse while Penzance songbird, Delpha Hudson and Marazion blues queen Mo George add yet more female talent to the mix. Before returning back to London after his annual pilgrimage to St. Ives, Rowan Bosworth-Davies drops in for a final flourish of folk and wit while Brian Flexman, the old growler himself, is back with his earthy set of homespun blues.....and just to prove you can’t have enough of a good thing, the superb guitar talents of Andy Bunce and Kevin Parsons combine once more with their stunning, spine-tingling, gypsy jazz set. A superb night in prospect as host, local poet Alan Shepherd, invites one and all to another session of fantastic free St. Ives Folk down at the Kettle & Wink on Wednesday.
