As part of Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe Emma Decent presents her provocative poetry, vibrant performance prose, and an extract of a unique performance piece in development - ‘Beyond Dreams of Aberystwyth’.
The obvious starting point of any world trip, Emma is inspired to make a journey. She begins at Aberystwyth, the coastal Welsh town where she was a miserable student of English and Drama in the late 80’s and where, unknown to her, her father conducted a love affair with a woman he abandoned heartbroken and pregnant in the early 1950’s.
Discovering the secret inspires a journey around the world and to other places.
Using words, music, film, and photography Emma presents a new spoken word piece about the impossible search for family truth, and peace in the wake of a death.
