Hit the Ode brings the most exciting poets from the region, the country and the world straight to the heart of Birmingham. We have poems unlike any others. These are poems which you can wear to fancy restaurants; poems you can drive down the street with your elbow out and your bass pumping; poems you can curl up on for an afternoon nap; poems you can use to prop up open windows and batter closed doors to splinters. Good poems, that’s what we have. Come and get them.
From Birmingham, Type S: Jodi Ann Bickley, Mr Morrison and Matt Windle, three of Birmingham’s most talented young poets, have formed a poetry super-group and will be performing brand new material including exciting group pieces. World premiere!
From London, Tshaka Campbell: With appearances at venues from the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York to the poetry Café in London, Tshaka is recognized worldwide as a highly accomplished artist and performer. His writing reads as well on the page as it does in his live performance
From France, Dizzylez: Dizzylez toys with words, languages and formats. Equally at ease solo or accompanied by musicians, he has been honing his poetic flow for years at poetry nights, hip-hop battles, and jazz concerts around the world; you'll know him by his flat cap and his crooked smile.
A very few highly coveted open mic slots are available - sign up via email or on the door (come early).
Price: £5.00
Time: 7:30pm
