Jonathan reads from his translations of Pavese, Montale and Velarde including his translations of Ramón López Velarde, ‘Mexico’s National Poet’ which Markings Publications is launching in its latest Pocket Edition.
Jonathan Falla, is as an award-winning dramatist and novelist; he writes plays, non-fiction, poetry and books of translation, translating from French, Italian and Spanish and working particularly on Renaissance texts for the music group Fires of Love.
Jonathan will be joined by Angus McMillan, co-editor of Southlight. Angus writes mostly poetry, and his work in English and Gaelic has been published in many magazines and anthologies.
International poet Liz Niven will also introduce PEN readings as part of the UK Day of the Dead - readings running across the week. We’ll have readings from the work of Mexican journalist Lydia Cacho Ribeiro one of Mexico's leading investigative journalists and of other writers hounded, oppressed or imprisoned for their beliefs.
