23rd of November sees Pigbaby continue in fine fashion with a free 6 o'clock reading from Rachel Woolf and Philip Pollecoff. In Scots and English, Rachel Woolf’s poetry invites us into an evocative world where language makes the seasons’ rhythms and the life of natural elements spring off the page with almost animistic energy. Conveying a finely-honed sense of place, this up-and-coming poet is undoubtedly one to watch.
Philip Pollecoff embraces his unusual position as both lawyer and poet with the humour and empathy that make his poems so engaging. Writing on subjects as diverse as Ovaltine, acid, and 'divorce lawyer brides', Pollecoff blends the wry with the unexpected as he elegantly delineates the intriguing problematics of memory.
