Richmond Literature Festival in partnership with Apples and Snakes presents
John Hegley & El Crisis
For more than three decades, John Hegley has been bewildering the nation with poems about glasses, dogs, vegetables, and dogs that are also vegetables. The accolade of 'national treasure' would undoubtedly bring a blush to his boyish cheek, but would be well-deserved nonetheless. If you like poems that creep up behind you and do things you're not expecting, and songs accompanied by frenzied mandolin mayhem, then tonight's your lucky night.
"Scandalously talented" Sunday Times
There’ll also be a set from one of John’s own favourite poets, El Crisis: a one-man sound-system of chants and incantations, and sometime collaborator with artists as diverse as Estelle and Roots Manuva.
