Hello again! OUPS kicks off again in 1st week Hilary with a reading by Patrick McGuinness and James Methven.
A scholar, writer and translator, Patrick McGuinness has published three books of poems, including his latest Jilted City, and one novel to much acclaim. For his poetry he has won both an Eric Gregory Award and been shortlisted for the Roland Mathias Prize. His novel The Last Hundred Days was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize and shortlisted for the Costa Prize.
‘Running through Jilted City is an acrid tenderness that is entirely itself, its jokes dry, aching with loss.’ George Szirtes
Fellow academic and Poet James Methven will be reading alongside Patrick. James' book Precious Asses, a delightfully unconstrained translation of Catullus, won him the Purple Moose prize back in 2009.
'James Methven rants and raves and cries and swears and teases as well as Catullus himself' Cherwell
So come join us on Wednesday 18th January, at 7:30pm, for a fantastic evening of poetry courtesy of two widely acclaimed writers. (Entry is £3 for OUPS members and £5 for non-members).
