A Barbican Theatre production, in association with Apples and Snakes presents
Opposition
In her new solo show Opposition, award-winning writer, performer and vocal gymnast Hannah Silva uses multiple art forms to dissect and parody political language, revealing the meaning, music and claptrap beneath the rhetoric of today’s (big?) society.
The audience pick up their name badges and become delegates at a political conference remixed as David Cameron’s Big Society speech, the Weather, the News, slang, live Twitter feeds and Winston Churchill all get cut up and recomposed using physical theatre, a loop pedal, and her extraordinary vocal acrobatics.
***** "This is a virtuoso avant-garde performance of a virtuoso avant-garde text by a virtuoso avant-garde artist. Go to listen, marvel, participate. Go to be amazed. Just go." What’s on Stage
**** "This whirlwind of humanity explodes onto the stage with striking force and energy." Fringe Review
**** "An intervention: a decision to change the very terms of the discussion. Hannah Silva is in Opposition. Join her. " The Skinny
