Game Expo East Kent Fringe, supported by Apples and Snakes, presents Grand Verse Quarto

An evening of videogame-inspired verse from four high-scoring spoken word poets. Join Ross Sutherland, Jacob Sam-La Rose, Christian Watson and compère Dan Simpson as they bring gaming and poetry together for one night of GEEK Fringe entertainment.

Expect poems about Pac-Man, sonnets about Street Fighter and rhymes about Resident Evil as the two art forms are effortlessly put together (like tetrominoes) for this verbal celebration of videogame culture.

Ross Sutherland is a writer/performer and was named as one of The Times' Top Ten Literary Stars of 2008. He tours a solo show, ‘The Three Stigmata of Pac-Man’, and his most recent collection, ‘Hyakuretsu Kyaku’, is a series of sonnets about the characters in Street Fighter.

Jacob Sam-La Rose is a London-based poet, published by Bloodaxe, Penguin and Enitharmon Press. His poetry has been described as "fresh, vivid and masterly in its evocation of contemporary Britain" by the Poetry Book Society. www.jacobsamlarose.com

Christian Watson writes all day and occasionally performs poems on stage. He is a bright rising star of the South East performance poetry scene, not afraid to mix confession with home-spun philosophy and outright fantasy.

Dan Simpson is a spoken word poet and compère, poetry project organiser, workshop facilitator and writer. His poetry deals with love and literature, science and sex, ex-girlfriends and Xboxes: all that good geeky stuff.
