We are very much looking forward to welcoming the acclaimed American poet Jane Hirshfield to the Scottish Poetry Library next week. She will read from her new collection Come, Thief, and answer questions on Friday 13 April, 6 for 6.30pm.

Jane Hirshfield also writes illuminating essays on the craft and nature of poetry. These can be found in her Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry, and her Newcastle/Bloodaxe poetry lectures, Hiddenness, Uncertainty, Surprise: Three Generative Energies of Poetry. She's the editor of the fascinating anthology Women in Praise of the Sacred, and editor/co-translator of The Ink Dark Moon: Love poems by Ono no Komachi and Izumi Shikibu.
