He might have heard the knife working its stone, the blade’s argument against the soft faith/of flesh, the disquisition mapping his limbs,/the whirring buzz-saw hum of the mind of God. Ross Cogan.
The author of the acclaimed Stalin’s Desk, Cheltenham Poetry Festival Director Ross Cogan’s work has been described as ‘tightly crafted, moving and concerned with serious themes’. The Times
His work is complex yet accessible, full of haunting narratives and dazzling feats of metaphor and imagery.
Giles Goodland is ‘a world-class poet’ (Peter Finch). His latest book, The Dumb Messengers, explores the difficulty of communicating, in life and poetry. ‘Broken or failed poems are often the most eloquent – like those rockets that don’t make it into space but explode beautifully’, he writes.
There is also an open mic, so bring your own beautiful rockets.
