If underpants, sex, gravy and Keith Moon giving the Queen Mother drumming lessons are more your thing, then this could be the verbal romp you’ve been waiting for.....

Bang Said The Gun in London is considered one of the best poetry nights in the country and has recently been reaching over 4 million viewers on Channel 4’s Random Acts.

Five Manchester-based poets (Dominic Berry, Kieren King, Rod Tame, Dave Viney and Benny Jo Zahl) have come together to repeat this winning formula with Manchester’s first weekly poetry night. The night will celebrate the best in local and national poets (guests lined up include local boy and Radio 4 Slam Champion Ben Mellor and multi-award-winning poet and playwright Inua Ellams) as well as offering audience members the chance to compete for the coveted Golden Gun prize in the Top Banana Open Mic.

Each week's Golden Gun prize winner is offered a guest set at a future Bang Said The Gun: Manchester!

Acclaim for Bang Said The Gun: London

“One of the best poetry nights in the country; the combination of excitement, enthusiasm and deep, deep concentration on the poems is a wonder to behold!”
Ian McMillan

“…quite comprehensively the best poetry night I have ever been to. Described by their fair selves as ‘mud wrestling with words’, it was the finest portrayal of how performance poetry should be. Entertaining, inclusive, crude and at times rather challenging to the strength of your bladder...
So if you thought poetry nights were a little dry, think again. Hit up BANG SAID THE GUN whenever possible.”
Popshot Magazine

Acclaim for Kieren King, Dave Viney and Benny Jo Zahl as their combined alter-ego, The Working Verse collective

“Absolutely stonkingly good show from the boys of Working Verse at The Lowry last night. Great to hear great language performed brilliantly. It really is the best show I’ve seen in a long time. Well done Dominic Berry for getting this piece together and for directing it so very well. The boys have given Manchester’s poetry scene a much needed shot in the arm.”
Gerry Potter (aka Chloe Poems)

Acclaim for Dominic Berry

“From the moment he started to speak we were totally captivated- the incredible way he uses words, the expression and energy of the delivery and the subject matter made him irresistible.”
City Life

Acclaim for Rod Tame

“Poems about being a rubbish gay, or the infinitely worse stigma of Being From Kent… Rod Tame has a lovely style, confident but approachable. A pleasure to watch.”
Jo Bell
