Writing on the Wall's War Tour brings a touch of beautry to barbarism for a night of drama, stories and poetry featuring award winning poet and former American Soldier, Brian Turner, Here, Bullet, Phantom Noise (Bloodaxe Books, 2007), writer Zoe Lambert, The War Tour, (Comma Press 2012), and the Liverpool premiere performance of Bullets and Daffodils, a musical drama written by Dean Johnson and John Gorman based on iconic first World War poet, Wilfred Own.

Brian Turner is an American poet who’s work gave the title to the Oscar Nominated film, The Hurt Locker. He won the 2005 Beatrice Hawley Award for his debut collection, Here, Bullet, (Alice James Books) the first of many awards and honors received for this collection of poems about his experience as a soldier in the Iraq War. His honors since include a Lannan Literary Fellowship and NEA Literature Fellowship in Poetry, and the Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship. His second collection, shortlisted for the 2010 T.S. Eliot Prize is Phantom Noise (Alice James Books, 2010). WoW are proud to host Brian on his first appearance in Liverpool

Zoë Lambert is a Manchester based writer. Her new collection of short-stories, The War Tour, has been long-listed for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Prize. She has an MA in Creative Writing at UEA and a PhD from Manchester Metropolitan University. She lectures on the creative writing MA at the Universities of Bolton and Edge Hill. She was the founder of cult Manchester literature night, Verberate, and is a member of the board of the Northwest Short Story Network.

Bullets and Daffodilsis the world’s first musical drama based on the iconic WW1 poet Wilfred Owen.
The musical was written by singer/songwriter Dean Johnson, who attended the same school as Owen in Birkenhead. The score also features a contribution from Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, who exclusively licensed the track himself. It features recorded contributions from actor Christopher Timothy, and has had airplay on BBC Radio 2.
