Critically acclaimed writer John Agard (GCSE Poetry Live) puts his spin on the language of Poetry and Cricket in his new Spoken Word talk ‘Sun Stops Play’.
'Agard has a philosophy: life consists of balance, opposites, temptations, curiosity, excitements, pleasures; every god needs a devil, every order needs a disorder, every established hierarchy needs skeptical mockery.'
− World Literature Today
Experience the thrill of performance, perfectly pitched speech, and rousing oratory from acclaimed poet John Agard. John explores poetry and cricket with references to Lord Byron, W G Grace, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, CLR James, Grace Nichols and more. The talk is followed by a Q & A with John Agard on his career and influences, and a book signing. Suitable for those who like their words to swing.
‘Agard is one of the most eloquent contemporary poets...rich in literary and cultural allusion, yet as direct as a voice in the bus queue.’
− Helen Dunmore, Observer
