Pighog: Hallucinated Horse Latin American Poetry
This event on 22nd May 2012 has past.

Pighog presents the first fruits of its blossoming relationships with the poets of Latin America, in Hallucinated Horse, a bilingual sampler of cutting edge poetry by young poets from across Spanish-speaking America. It presents many of the participants in the grassroots cartonera publication culture to English-speaking audiences for the first time.
Spoken in startling and unsubsumable voices, the poems in this book can be seen repeatedly gauging the proportions of certain landmarks and experiences: the deviant desire which inscribes its name onto the wall of anonymous hotels and bowling alleys, the stomach which is full of America, the narrator who drowns in the elixir of the ocean and is pleased to be washed away, the self who comes into existence before the elusive mirror of speech; birds ascending into virtual skies.
The volume was edited and translated by the Puerto Rican poet Nicole Cecilia Delgado and Pighog Press’ Assistant Editor Tom Slingsby, who’ll be reading from Hallucinated Horse at this event. The presentation will also include video performances from the authors, providing an insight into the tone and flavour of the original Spanish.
