Brendan Cleary relaunches his cult classic poetry magazine The Echo Room that ran for 19 never to be forgotten issues in the 80s and 90s. Re-invented for the 21st century The Echo Room includes some of the most spellbinding poets writing today as well as fascinating insights into the art and politics of poetry. Cleary will be joined on the night by Matthew Sweeney, Martin Myers and Jackie Wills. The newly relaunched The Echo Room contains poems by Simon Armitage, Geoff Hattersly, Helen Mort, Matthew Caley and many more.
Sarah Jackson is one of the most outstanding new voices in contemporary poetry. She is already receiving wide recognition for work which is enriched by her accomplishments as a critical theorist and executed with a beguilingly skilful lightness of touch. Born in Berkshire in 1977, she completed her DPhil in Creative and Critical Writing at Sussex University with a thesis entitled The Textual Skin: Towards a Tactile Poetics. Tonight marks the Brighton launch of Pelt, her first full collection, published by Bloodaxe.
