Apples and Snakes presents
Big Talk
A carnival of spoken word and poetry with open mic, national guest poets and poetry films. Come along to experience some of the most engaging, insightful and entertaining poets in the UK share their wit and wisdom in the intimate and atmospheric setting of the Tom Thumb Theatre.
Compered by Rick Bolinger, the accidental pot luck Rickasaurus.
Featuring:
Longfella (Tony Walsh)
A towering talent on the performance poetry scene, Tony blends native Manchester wit with a humanitarian heart and a poets eye to create moving and exhilarating poems. He is a regular at both music and literature festivals and his poems have won awards and been heard on BBC radio and TV.
Poeticat
Poet Catherine Martindale’s honest, thought-provoking and comic stream-of-consciousness take on urban life is backed by experimental vocals (inspired by Portuguese Fado), melodic acoustic guitar, the earthy pulse of the cajon (Peruvian drum) and bass. As a band, Poeticat are gaining a loyal following, critical acclaim and are becoming regular fixtures at festivals around the country. Come and witness some folk ‘n’ word.
