Stow Festival of Writing

The first Stow Festival Of Writing will take place over the Jubilee weekend of 1st-4th June and will feature storytelling, poetry, children's events and local authors. We'll be encouraging people to take up pen 'n paper (and laptops too!) and get writing!

JUBILEE POEM COMPETITION
Our Jubilee Poem competition is open to all ages and all abilities. Poems entered into the competition can carry any individual title - the only stipulation is that each entry must relate in some way to Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.


RULES:

1. Closing date April 30th, 2012

2. The entry fee is £2 per poem. There is no limit to how many poems can be entered per person. Cheques in sterling only should be made payable to: Go Stow. Please write name and address clearly on the back of the cheque.

3. Entries must be in English and be the writer’s own unpublished work. They must not be on offer for publication or entered in any other current competition.

4. Entries must not be longer than 40 lines.

5. Each piece of work, with its title, must be in clear type on one side of A4 sheet(s). All work will be judged anonymously so details of the writer must not appear on this sheet.

6. The name and address of the writer and the titles of all entries should be typed on a separate sheet of A4 paper.

7. The prize-winner will be notified by post (or by email if email address is provided).

8. Entries are accepted by post only. Please keep a copy of your work, as entries will not be returned.

9. All entries that arrive on time will be considered by the adjudicator whose decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into concerning the result.

10. Details of the winning entry and four runners-up will be published in all editions of the Stow Times.

Prize for the Winning Entry: £25-00 cash

The winning poem and the runners-up will be published in future issues of the Stow Times. There will also be an opportunity for the winning entry and runners-up to be performed at a live event as part of Stow's Jubilee celebrations to be held over the Bank Holiday weekend June 1st to 4th.
