The Day The Grass Came is a thrilling synthesis of hope, joy and visceral energy triumphing over 'unsouled' materialism. Simon Callow wrote: 'I am overwhelmed, thrilled, lit up. Virile, vital, virtuosic. Stupendous.' Melvyn Bragg referred to its 'visceral intellectualism' and called it 'a triumph.' Four of the poems have won international prizes.
The Day The Grass Came is Leo Aylen's ninth collection. Published in 100 anthologies, he has performed his poetry on 3 continents, on TV, radio, in theatres, the Royal Albert Hall and to 3000 Zulus. Nominated for a BAFTA, he co-wrote the Hollywood film Gods and Generals (Warner 2003), and was sole subject of 3 American nationwide TV programmes.
Entry: £5/4 with £5/4 off The Day the Grass Came.
