Flaming Skirt Festival is an arts festival travelling round to 6 locations in Amber Valley on 30 June 2012 between 10.30am and 6pm
It is a fun protest because the Olympic torch relay is skirting round Amber Valley rather than going through it, an alternative arts festival to shine a Beacon of Light on the invisibility of Amber Valley, a day of carrying the Beacon of Light to 6 different locations for creative events devised by artists.
At each of location there will be a different mini-event which will last for an hour: poetry at Shipley Park, drumming at Ironville Church, lunch-stop at Midland Railway Centre, games at Ripley Greenway off Albion Street and then storytelling, mini-skirt sports and dancing at Lower Hartshay canal bridge and the Old School. There will be a mini-car show and a mini-dog show somewhere, and cakes at each location, maybe prizes... who knows? The route and timings are posted on flamingskirtfestival.blogspot.co.uk . Time has been allowed to transport the Beacon of Light between locations.
10.30-11.30 Poetry Renga Relay
12.00-1.00 Rhythm for Life Drumming

4.30-5.30 All our Journeys Story Telling
6.00 - 10.00 Mini skirt sports events.
Entry: £1 per mini-event
