The Five Faces of Fulli is the exploration of one man’s psyche, that man is Ushiku Crisafulli. Over the past 4 years many characters or “faces” have emerged from the depths of Ushiku’s mind.

These are collectively known as “The Five Faces of Fulli” – Sir Benjamin, Cowboy Crisafulli, Indigo Angel, Bidaman, and El Poetico. Drawing inspiration from cabaret, country, alternative music, hip hop, poetry, spoken word, performance art, philosophy, superheroes and steampunks The Five Faces of Fulli promises to entertain and enlighten in equal measure.

Vocal Strain, performance artist/poet: “About the man in question, the first thing to note is that there are five faces of Ushiku Crisafulli, not just one, two or three, however impossible that is, Ushiku has five crazy characters all stored under one roof. Ushiku has managed to develop and express through each one, his own particular opinions in an appropriate manner with each of the five individuals’ characteristics that he creates and embodies as with each persona. Take out of the denim pocket for example, Cowboy Crisafulli, a cowboy from the south of Italy, that embodies vastly different ideas of western culture in just a single pair of leather boots, because very close to belief, this ain’t no ordinary cowboy and it isn’t going to be one easy ride to know what’s grinding this cowboy down, so as you keep digging, there is a strong force that drives all five in just the one physical body to grow and expand, through the work undertaken by Ushiku formed through his appreciation and obsessively keen devotion to his interests, one of which is the seed to El Poetico, paying homage to one of Ushiku’s highly developed interests, professional wrestling.”

And this was before I managed to perform with him.

I showed Ushi a couple of pieces of my own work…. To which he quickly added his own spin on things. Initially, I didn’t know how the 2 styles would work together, but he has a way of making anything his own.

We have performed both together and co-written a piece, which I sincerely hope is not the last.
