The 'Wirral Ode Show' is held on the 3rd Thursday of every month. We welcome poets from near and far to a warm, friendly and inclusive open mic poetry night. No closed set list- no cliques, just a great night with great people and great poetry.
We're at a picturesque traditional real ale pub overlooking the river Mersey.
the 'Egremont Ferry Hotel' on Tobin Street, Wallasey is just a stones throw from Liverpool being near the tunnel with good bus connections. The Ferry at Seacome is only a short walk away allowing access (at least to us) from Liverpool and Woodside Birkenhead.
The postcode for any poet satnaving their way towards us is;
CH44 8DF.
We'd love to hear your poetry and share a pint.
Mc is Glenys Feeney. New readers are made most welcome. ALL poets get at least 3 reading slots!

Rules
The competition will take place on the 15th of November in the Egremont Ferry Hotel, Wallasey, CH44 8DF at 8:30pm.
Anyone wishing to enter must be 18 years or older, as the competition is taking place on licensed premises.
All poems must be the original work of the entrant.
No poem can be admitted that has previously won a poetry competition or slam (notable poems from various poetry nights like the Spoke or Bang Said the Gun are acceptable).
To guarantee entry to the competition, poets will first need to register their interest by contacting Chris via email; coaster.coey@googlemail.com. From the time the adverts go up; we will take registrations on a first come first served basis. If enough interest exists the list may close, before or on the night. If this happens a reserve list will be taken.
On the night poets need to register their arrival by 8.10pm at the latest with Glenys. Anyone who has not made it to the venue by 8.10 risks losing their place - should there be a reserve wishing to take their place.
To reiterate - the competition will begin at 8.30. It shall finish once all entries are heard, winners announced and photographs taken.
The competition running order will be chosen from a hat (random).
Poets will be scored out of 30 marks. Out of 20 marks for their poem(s) and out of 10 marks for their performance.
4 minutes per person - can be one or more poems.
All poets will be timed exactly. A buzzer will go off if a poet exceeds the time limit. 2 marks will be deducted from a poets total score for going over time. An additional 2 marks will be deduced if a poet has to be called to a halt for being 20 seconds over the time limit.
3 judges will score the Wirral Ode Show competition. Separately one of those judges will choose the Merseysider Prize winner.
None of the judges will be the people that run the night. Those that run the night have nothing to do with scoring the night and neither will they take part in the competition.
The judges decisions will be final and the process of their deliberations remain private. No discussion will be entered into as to why any decision has been made.
The results will not to be revealed until the end of the night - when it will be done so in reverse order 3rd, 2nd and 1st. The Merseysider Prize will be announced and awarded separately.
Photographs will be taken of the winners.
Info
We request that all entrants bring with them (an additional) typed hard copy of their poem(s). That those copies be handed to Chris before the evening gets underway. This is so The Merseysider Prize can be considered more carefully from the point of view of the page.
No poetry filming will take place on the competition night. Photographs will be taken of each performer – unless poet(s) express a wish to the contrary.
We politely ask all people to switch their mobile phones off prior to the competition.
It should be a great night - hope to see you there - Best from Chris, Nat and Glenys x
