Global Fusion Music & Arts have a great line up install for this year’s Greenwich Jazz, with - The Art Theman Quartet featuring: Art Theman on saxophone. Art, the gentleman of jazz, certainly knows how to charm his audiences, but don’t be fooled by his suave and debonair persona, he can play a raunchy saxophone. With over forty years of experience with some of the leading names in jazz and blues, and having toured the world, recorded many albums both here in the UK and in the USA, Art Theman, is a dynamic and charismatic performer. Art Theman will be joined on the 16th by: John Donaldson on piano, Tim Wells on bass and Trevor Tomkins on drums, all of whom have world class pedigrees in jazz. The evening has a very special guest in the form of the legendary Pete Brown. This iconic, poet, lyricist and singer earned his place in pop and rock history working with the likes of, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker in Cream as well as his own bands: Battered Ornaments and Piblokto. Some of his memorable hits include: ‘Sunshine of your Love’ - ’White Room’ - ‘I Feel Free’ to name a few. Local poet and jazz singer Louisa Le Marchand who performed with Art Theman and Trevor Tomkins with her band Jazzmoss when they toured in 2008, will be giving us some verses from her collection of poems, ‘Whispers in the Mists of Time’, watch out for her mean blues harmonica playing, it can take you by surprise. Jazzman John Clarke with his beat style poetry will be reading from his collection ‘All the Way from Kathmandu’. The MC for the evening will be poet and writer Sandhya Kaffo
