Songs and poems written by Peter Spafford, performed by Peter Spafford and multi-instrumentalist Richard Ormrod. Plus York poet, Helen Burke.

'Mixes the deadly earnest with the beautiful and absurd' - Dr.Hyperbole. 'Asserts a passionate love of life…" Headingley Lit Fest blog.

Why do we write: to pass the time, leave a mark, get rich quick?

With poems and songs about graffiti, shopping lists, Mad Men, notebooks, and death, plus musical settings of poems by Wallace Stevens, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Christina Rossetti and Alfred Lord Tennyson, Scriptophilia celebrates the sources, compulsions, and consolations of writing.

Peter's work has been performed on radio, television, and on the streets; in theatres, art centres, hospitals, prisons, and in the bath. Richard was recently named Musician of the Year by Jazz Yorkshire.

Of recent performances at Otley Word Feast and Headingley Lit Fest, audience members wrote:

'Excellent, moving, and very different'.

'Fantastic pairing. Impressive and inspiring'.

'The fusion of words and music worked so well. I was laughing one minute, moved the next'.
