Beeston Poets is a programme of readings by well-known poets in Beeston Library. It follows on from the 'Poets in Beeston' series which ran from 1993 for nearly twenty years.

The 2012 series continues with Neil Astley on November 24th. Tickets are £7 (£5 concessions) and can be obtained from Beeston Library, Foster Avenue, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 1AE - in person, or by post (send cheque and SAE). Cash/cheques only.

Season tickets are available for full-price tickets for this event, Jackie Kay on October 20th and Andy Croft on December 8th for £22 (a saving of £4).

Beeston Poets in association with Writing East Midlands presents Neil Astley, editor of Bloodaxe Books, which he founded in 1978. His books include novels, poetry collections and anthologies, most notably the Bloodaxe Staying Alive trilogy: Staying Alive, Being Alive and Being Human, which were followed by Essential Poems from the Staying Alive Trilogy. He has published two novels, The End of My Tether, which was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel Award, and The Sheep Who Changed the World. In 2012 Candlestick Press published his selection of Ten Poems About Sheep in its renowned pamphlet series. He received an Eric Gregory Award for his poetry and was given a D.Litt from Newcastle University for his work with Bloodaxe Books. He lives in Northumberland.

Beeston Poets is run by Nottingham Poetry Society, Nottinghamshire Libraries and Five Leaves Publications.
