Kate Fox, a Northerner, has been a Radio 4 regular on Saturday Live and popped up on everything from the Today programme to Woman's Hour. She's also been Great North Run Poet in Residence, occasional stand up comic and commissioned by everyone from Amnesty International to the NHS to write topical poems. Her forthcoming book from Smokestack has been described as "Fabulous, funny and feminist".
Nandita Ghose is a poet, playwright and artist, who has performed and been published widely. She won the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Award for funniest poem for “This Nose” and was short-listed for the Bridport Prize for the poem “Strange Fruit”. Her poetry performance/installation “Kitchen Martyr” was recently shown at 2 and 4 Gallery and Lauderdale House. She wrote the film ‘Bhangra Girls’ for Scene BBC2, the first ever drama with a female Asian cast, and her plays and dramatisations have been broadcast on Radio 4, the series “Oxford Road” winning a Sony. She is currently developing “Mrs Whippy Serves it Up”, a sundae of poetry, sculpture and ice cream. She also runs Creative Writing Courses at the Working Men’s College, Camden.

This is always a great evening.
Agnes seems to find a wide range of talent, of invariably good standard international and British writers. Her manner is bright and welcoming and the floor poets are definitely made to feel at home
