This is an Allographic “Special” - a loose series of bigger names on the Spoken Word scene who fit the “Other Voices” bill of the voices heard less often, starring The Antipoet and Mark Niel, and supported by local performers Patrick Widdess and Leanne Moden, and host Fay Roberts.

Rhythm Method tour 2012

The ‘Rhythm Method’ tour combines the genius of the wit and dubious wisdom of The Antipoet and the sheer delight that is Milton Keynes’ poet laureate, Mr Mark Niel. An evening of entertainment not easily forgotten, but vouchers for therapy are available on your way out.

The Antipoet

The world’s finest exponents of beat rantin’ rhythm’n views; a wry blend of anarchocynisism and comic observation.

Paul and Ian have brought together the wit and wisdom of one of the country’s finest performance poets with melodic rhythms of solo bass and the odd piece of gratuitous percussion thrown in for good measure to create the unique sound and spectacle that is The Antipoet.

“The Antipoet is an act at the forefront of the new movement, with material dripping in parody. They take poetry to a new level, with performances as memorable as they are hilarious”
The Stage (July 2010)

“Enigmatic beat poetry. a dazzling display of poetry, comedy and music, sometimes all in the same moment!”
Fringe Review (August 2010)

“Sweet as Strawberries, sharp as lemon barley water”
Jo Bell, Ledbury Festival (July 2011)

Mark Niel

This is the powerhouse that is the poet laureate for Milton Keynes

And if you thought that Milton Keynes had nothing to offer except concrete cows and somewhere for Londoners to park and ride then watch out as Mark is leading a poetic mission to make you change your minds.

“A rising star of the UK Poetry Scene”
Hammer and Tongue

“Stuff like that is the reason I still go to poetry nights”
Niall Spooner-Harvey

And they’ll be supported by the wonderfully slanty wordplay of local poet, event promoter, photographer, and radio DJ Patrick Widdess, and Leanne Moden, a poet and habitual rhymer who doesn’t take herself too seriously. Her poems have been described as ‘surprising’, ‘hilarious’ and ‘unsuitable for those with a heart condition.’ Find out more at http://www.patrickwiddess.co.uk/ and http://www.tenyearstime.blogspot.co.uk respectively.
