To celebrate World Poetry Day on Thursday 21st March

Cogito Bookshop will have local poet Catherine Graham joining us to enjoy a glass of wine while Catherine reads her poetry.

I've often thought that writing a poem is like playing a scratch-card. We don't know what we will uncover as we peel back images; scraping away, searching for the right word until finally, we discover the prize - the finished poem.' (CG)

Catherine Graham (UK) is a Northern Voices Poetry Award winner and winner of the Northumberland Writers' Special Award. Her work has appeared in a number of magazines and anthologies in the UK and Ireland as well as online. Anthologies include The Stony Thursday Book 2009 (The Arts Office, Limerick, Ireland) with poets including Robert Hass, Paul Muldoon and Fleur Adcock and Soul Feathers (Indigo Dreams Publishing 2011) with poets including Seamus Heaney, Sharon Olds, Benjamin Zephania and Carol Ann Duffy. Catherine's acclaimed chapbook, Signs (ID on Tyne Press) was one of The Poetry Kit's top five recommended books for 2011. Catherine's first full collection Things I Will Put In My Mother's Pocket is due out Spring 2013 with Indigo Dreams Publishing. www.indigodreams.co.uk
