Performance poetry to inspire, delight and provoke, within the most burlesque bar in Plymouth!
Poets to make you laugh out loud, gasp with pleasure and ponder life’s great philosophies we: welcome you to the most thrilling poetry ride of your life! Nestled safely in the cobbled streets of the Barbican, surrounded by velvet curtains and candle light, you will find the FORKED poets ready and waiting to entertain. Bringing you every possible style of performance poetry from across the UK, the line- up is always diverse and brilliant. On top of that Jazz Floozy and Poetess Mama Tokus will be there, whilst the B-Bar will serve up tasty fresh Thai food. Featuring:
Liz Greenfield- Amsterdam born Liz lives in Bristol. A writer, cartoonist and designer.
Liz’s style of poetry explores themes such as salmon, babies and foxes with a clever ironic stance and a dollop of absurdist imagery. Co-writer of a live poetry show for Cheltenham Poetry Festival and performer at festivals with the Wandering Word stage, Liz’s first collection of Poems and Cartoons. Nobody’s Uncle is out now.
Ben Norris- Birmingham based Poet, playwright and actor Ben is a very busy man, with a string of slam wins and poetry festival awards, such as the coveted Bang said the Gun ‘Golden Gun’ award from Ledbury. Ben’s poems are lifted from the page with his theatrical and involving delivery, portraying his true passion for the art of spoken word.
Robert Garnham- Local man Robert has been voted Bard of Big Jim's Fish Bar, winner of an impromptu poetry slam on the number 12 bus, (Newton Abbot to Brixham) and more recently Exeter Poetry Slam 2012 winner!
Robert pokes a stick at life, shakes it, rattles it and then waits for something more interesting to drop out of it. He then writes a poem about it. Host of Poetry Island at the Blue Walnut Café and featured poet in London, Brixham and Berlin venues, Robert’s latest novel ‘The Castle Hills Facility, Leaning In Like A Monster’ is out now on Amazon.
