After reading to a sell out crowd back in October for The Varsity Slam we thought it was time to bring Mark Grist back to Sheffield. This time he's bringing his full show with MC Mixy exploring the links between literature and hip hop.
DEAD POETS: MARK GRIST + MC MIXY
Dead Poets has appeared on the BBC 6 Music with Steve Merchant, was shortlisted for the Wooda Arts Award, received six different 4 star reviews at Edinburgh and went on to tour nationally with Phrased and Confused. This is the first ever showing of Dead Poets in Sheffield. The show explores links and cross over points between poetry and Hip Hop.
Mark Grist is a poet and battle rapper based in Peterborough, UK, who rose to prominence when his Don't Flop rap battle against Mancunian MC Blizzard became an internet viral hit with over 3 million views and counting.
MC Mixy is also a talented solo performer, his one-man show, Content, was one of the Spoken Word successes of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, given four stars by the Scotsman who said his show made “Mike Skinner of The Streets look decidedly average”. He also performs regularly as an MC .
