Martin Bell is a former war reporter and Independent MP. He wrote his first poem when he was a Corporal with the Suffolk Regiment in 1958, and his second 51 years later while waiting to give evidence in a war crimes trial in The Hague. His collection of light and dark verse,’ For Whom The Bell Tolls’, was published by Icon in October 2011. He says that the writing of what he calls his 'dodgy verses' has redirected his life.
