Part of the 2013 Tailor Made Travel Cheltenham Poetry Festival
We are delighted to present the world premiere of The Dance Around The Fire – an evening inspired by America and American poets. It marks the publication of The Dance Around The Fire, a chapbook in the American tradition by Pete M. Wyer published this year by San Francisco's Alternating Current Press.
Pete is Cheltenham-born and an acclaimed composer (London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Juilliard). He has spent the last 15 years working between the UK and the US. His 2008 album Stories From The City At Night, released by New York label Thirsty Ear, featured a set of interlocking stories unfolding on a single night in New York: his 2009 collaboration with New York poet, Steve Dalachinsky, Insomnia Poems, was featured on BBC Radio 3 and selected for 'Best Of 2009' by Jazz on 3.
The evening will feature poetry from the book as well as readings of work by Charles Bukowski, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Simic and Walt Whitman, alongside song, poetry and musical improvisation with acclaimed singer Evelyne Beech and composer Robert Perry, plus a performance by American Beat Poet Jeremy Toombs.
A unique event in an intimate and atmospheric setting. Book early to avoid disappointment.
