Poet in the City is delighted to present an important new series celebrating the very best of contemporary European poetry.

Krisztina Tóthis one of the most highly-acclaimed Hungarian poets. She is the winner of several awards, including the Graves Prize (1996), Déry Tibor Prize (1996), József Attila Prize (2000). Since the publication of her first collection of short stories in 2006 she has been listed amongst the best contemporary writers of Central Europe, and her poetry has been widely translated. She was recently awarded the Laureate Prize, one of the highest recognitions in Hungarian literature.

In partnership with The School of European Languages, Culture and Society at UCL, the Contemporary European Poets series brings to London celebrated poets from Hungary, Holland, France, Germany, the Faroe Islands and Italy, for showcase events at Europe House. Events will include live readings by the poets, with all poems read both in the original language and in brand new specially commissioned English translations.
