Part of the 2013 Tailor Made Travel Cheltenham Poetry Festival
Sponsored by Harrison Clark
In what is set to be one of the highlights of Cheltenham Poetry Festival festival, we present a tribute to Ivor Gurney, whose love of the Gloucestershire countryside inspired some of the 20th century’s finest poetry and music. The event features a showing of the acclaimed film Severn and Somme, The Life of Ivor Gurney, by Diana Taylor & Anthea Page, which takes us from the trenches to the asylum in the heartbreaking story of a genius broken by war and mental illness. We also feature a reading of Gurney-inspired poems by a selection of highly regarded Gloucestershire-based poets, including Kathryn Alderman, David Ashbee, Robin Gilbert, Adam Horovitz, Peter Wyton and (reading poems by the late Gwynne Gay) Sheila Simmons.
