Devon author, Mary Maher worked for many years in Special Education where she says there was a lot of honesty, a lack of social inhibition and where life was vivid, never humdrum.
Four collections of poetry have been published. Her first Dusting Round the Jelly was shortlisted for the Forward Prize and is used by Hospice Care in their training courses her third collection Cold Flushes is used by California State University.
She read from her fourth collection Green Darlings (published by Oversteps ) at the St Ives Literature Festival in 2008.
‘Relating To Michael’ is Mary’s first novel, Michael is an autistic boy and the novel concerns his family’s struggles as it journeys towards a different understanding.
Mary feels that, “difference is part of a broader normality”
