Shanta Acharya was born in Orissa, India, and won a scholarship to do a DPhil in English at Oxford, where she was among the first batch of women admitted to Worcester College. She was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard before working in investment management in the City of London. She is the author of nine books - five collections of poetry, her doctoral study, The Influence of Indian Thought on Ralph Waldo Emerson, and three books on asset management. Her latest poetry collection is Dreams That Spell The Light (Arc Publications, 2010). Her poems, articles and reviews have appeared in major publications in the UK, USA, and India. She was elected to the board of trustees of the Poetry Society, UK, in 2011. www.shantaacharya.com

Anthony Rudolf has published three volumes of memoirs: The Arithmetic of Memory (Bellew, 1999), A Vanished Hand (Shearsman, 2013) and, most recently, Silent Conversations: A Reader's Life (Seagull Books/Chicago University Press, 2013). Zigzag (Carcanet Press/Northern House, 2010) contains five sequences of prose and verse. He has also published art and literary criticism, short stories, and several volumes of poetry translations from French and Russian and other languages. His poems, reviews, articles, translations, interviews and obituaries have appeared in many journals. An occasional broadcaster, he has lectured and read his work in several countries. He is Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

Penelope Shuttle, the widow of the poet Peter Redgrove (1932-2003), has lived in Cornwall since 1970. Her collection, Redgrove's Wife (Bloodaxe Books, 2006) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Single Collection, and for the T S Eliot Award. In 2007, she received a Cholmondeley Award for Poetry. Sandgrain and Hourglass (Bloodaxe Books, 2010) was a Recommendation of The Poetry Book Society, and a poetry book of the year in The Financial Times. Her latest collection is Unsent: New and Selected Poems 1980-2013 (Bloodaxe Books, 2012).
