As part of the national tour to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the T S Eliot prize for Poetry, world – class poets Ian Duhig, Jane Draycott and Jen Hadfield who have been shortlisted in recent years will be reading their work alongside well known local poet Shamshad Khan.

Ian Duhig has won the National Poetry Competition twice, and Jane Draycott is the author of several collections of poetry which have won awards.
Jen Hadfield has published two collections, Almanacs (2005), and Nigh-No-Place (2008), the second of which scooped the T S Eliot Prize and was nominated for the Forward Poetry Prize. Shamshad Khan’s poems have been widely published, broadcast on BBC Radio and her performances have seen her collaborate with musicians, beat-boxers and video artists.

All of the poets will be performing as part of the event in September. Oldham Libraries are delighted to be the only authority in Greater Manchester hosting The T S Eliot prize event which is one of the world’s top poetry awards and was set up by the Poetry Book Society in 1993 in memory of its founding poet.
