Mark National Poetry Day with Art Macabre, as we present an ode to our favourite poets of the past and resurrect their words from the page. Sketch nude and costumed models striking poses inspired by poems, as you listen to poetry readings. From gothic classics such as Poe's 'The Raven', to more contemporary cursed verse. Create a charcoal epitaph to Plath. Witness Baudelaire's 'The Flowers of Evil' resurrected from the page, as we share a series of poetry inspired tableau vivant to inspire your drawings. Hosted by life-long appreciator of poetry Raven Rouge (born and bred in Kingston). Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you're new to poetry or putting pencil to paper, or both!
"Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally well." Sylvia Plath
Art Macabre bring their unique brand of drawing salons to Kingston for the first time, after a series of sold-out salons at Cass Art's Islington store. Art Macabre present a series of after hours, playful and relaxed, alternative life drawing events. Grab an artistic weapon of choice and come and make some killer marks as each salon explores a different deadly theme through the nude human form, costume, props and multi–media.
