Once upon a time….a songwriter, a singer and a poet came together in Bardsea for an evening of stories. A crowd gathered to listen and a good time was had by all. Now they are back, with more tales, traditional and original, in poetry and song.

A Spark in the Embers is an evening of stories in songs and poetry, both traditional and original. It features the exceptional young folk singer Maz O’Connor from Barrow in Furness, London-based singer songwriter and poet Alan Franks (formerly of The Times), and long-time landmark on the Furness poetry scene, Ross Baxter. A follow up to their acclaimed show A Lark among the Crows in 2011 this promises to be a magical evening.

Story-telling is embedded in our nature. By telling stories we shape our experience of the world, but are we trying to give it order and meaning, or find order and meaning in it? Either way, stories spark little flames of imagination to bring us light in the huge darkness in which we live.

Come and draw close to the fire and let them tell you the one about…
